KOLKATA — A viral video capturing a confrontation inside a women-only coach of a Kolkata local train has highlighted the persistent issue of public transit harassment.
According to commuters, it is a regular occurrence for young individuals to board evening trains around 7:30 to 8:00 PM under the influence of alcohol, frequently harassing women returning from work. In this latest incident, a male passenger attempted to create trouble inside the ladies’ compartment.
However, he miscalculated completely. A fearless female passenger stood her ground, confronting him fiercely and teaching him a well-deserved lesson. Hailed online as a “lioness” for her courage, she proved that harassers will face immediate pushback. Observers noted that the individual clearly messed with the wrong woman.
The incident has renewed calls for stricter railway security and heightened police vigilance to ensure safer commutes for working women across suburban networks.
This is a video from Kolkata local train, that too a women only coach. This is a regular occurrence here, these guys (aged 14-40) board the local trains drunk at around 7:30-8 pm, harass and catcall women returning from work. This lady gave the dose he deserves. Teach your daughters to fight back like this lioness. Thought it was his homestate, messed up with the wrong woman. Hopefully he learnt his lesson
