INDIA — A viral video capturing a petty theft has sparked discussions online, highlighting the daily struggles and security challenges faced by small-scale cash withdrawal and micro-ATM service providers.
According to the footage shared online, a customer visited a service point to withdraw cash. During the transaction, the individual allegedly stole a ₹500 note. A frustrated video captured by the operator shows the suspect smiling and unremorseful even after being caught. The operator voiced his anger in the caption, noting that commission margins for cash withdrawal agents are already extremely low, making losses from such petty thefts deeply frustrating.
The video has drawn online sympathy for gig workers and service providers, underscoring the importance of having CCTV or mobile cameras active during financial transactions to deter opportunistic theft.
