GANJ BASODA (VIDISHA), MADHYA PRADESH — A horrifying accident from Ganj Basoda in Vidisha district has shocked residents after a 65-year-old man lost his life on the spot after coming into contact with a live high-tension power line.
The deceased, identified as Prabhu Lal Gupta, a mason originally from Chhatarpur who had been living in Gayatri Nagar, stepped out onto the third-floor balcony of his rented residence. As he leaned out over the balcony edge to spit gutkha, he accidentally came into contact with an 11 kV high-tension electrical wire running in close proximity to the building. The high-voltage current instantly jolted him, causing severe burn injuries and leaving his body hanging from the balcony structure.
Local police and emergency teams arrived at the scene shortly after being alerted by panic-stricken neighbors. The tragic incident has sparked severe outrage among local residents against the power distribution company, with citizens alleging that repeated complaints regarding high-voltage lines passing dangerously close to residential structures had gone unheeded.
