Kenora Police Seize Suspected Fentanyl, Other Drugs and Imitation Firearm in Trafficking Investigation

KENORA, Ontario, September 16, 2026: Ontario Provincial Police have arrested a 37-year-old Kenora resident and seized suspected drugs, cash and an imitation firearm during a drug trafficking investigation, authorities said.

Police conducted the arrest as part of an ongoing investigation into suspected drug trafficking in the Kenora area.

During the operation, officers seized suspected fentanyl, morphine capsules and hydromorphone tablets, along with Canadian currency and an imitation firearm.

The firearm was described as an imitation weapon rather than a functioning firearm. Police nevertheless seized it as part of the investigation into the alleged trafficking activity.

The accused, whose identity was not released in the report, is facing multiple charges in connection with the investigation.

Police did not immediately provide further details about the specific charges or the quantity of drugs seized.

The accused has a future court appearance scheduled as the case moves through the Ontario court system.

The seizure is part of ongoing efforts by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) to investigate suspected drug trafficking and the distribution of controlled substances in northwestern Ontario.

The presence of suspected fentanyl among the seized substances is particularly significant because of the risks associated with the highly potent opioid. Authorities routinely warn that illicit drugs may contain fentanyl or other substances without the user’s knowledge, increasing the risk of accidental overdose.

Police have not indicated whether the accused was allegedly connected to a larger trafficking network or whether additional arrests are expected.

The investigation remains ongoing.

As with all criminal allegations, the accused is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court. Further details about the evidence, charges and circumstances surrounding the arrest are expected to emerge as the case proceeds.

Police seized:

  • Suspected fentanyl
  • Morphine capsules
  • Hydromorphone tablets
  • Canadian cash
  • An imitation firearm

The investigation continues in Kenora, with the accused scheduled to return to court at a later date.
