Udupi, Karnataka: Senior Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader Belur Gurudas Shenoy (65), a resident of Kota Manuru, lost his life in a horrific road accident at the Kota Junction on National Highway 66.
The incident occurred early in the morning when Shenoy was riding his bicycle to the nearby Amruteshwari temple. As he attempted to cross the highway at the junction, a speeding car traveling from Udupi toward Kundapura slammed directly into his bicycle.
The impact was severe that Shenoy was thrown onto the road and died on the spot. The collision caused the car driver to lose control, resulting in the vehicle overturning on the highway. The driver, identified as Pradeep Kanchan, sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a private hospital in Brahmavar by local responders for treatment.
The collision was captured on nearby CCTV cameras, showing the speed of the impact and the car overturning. Kota Police officials arrived at the scene shortly after to conduct an inspection, clear the road, and register a case for further investigation.
