Oracle Layoffs: Employee Loses Job 11 Days Before Wedding as Fresh Cuts Hit Tech Giant

Oracle has begun another round of layoffs, leaving employees across the technology industry facing sudden job losses and uncertainty. Among the stories being shared online is that of an employee who lost his job just 11 days before his wedding.

Oracle has once again begun cutting jobs as part of a broader organisational restructuring. The latest round started on September 14, 2026, with several employees reportedly receiving termination emails early in the morning.

According to multiple reports and posts shared by affected workers on platforms including Reddit, LinkedIn and Blind, some employees lost access to company systems before receiving their official notification. In several cases, the email reportedly informed employees that the day they received the message would also be their final working day.

Oracle has not publicly disclosed the exact number of employees affected by this latest round.

Employee Loses Job 11 Days Before Wedding

One of the most striking accounts came from an Oracle employee who said he was laid off only 11 days before his wedding.

The employee had spent approximately four and a half years at Oracle. In his account, he acknowledged that layoffs are business decisions and that the company may not have known about his personal circumstances.

However, the timing made the experience particularly difficult.

Despite the shock, he said the situation also gave him an opportunity to reassess his career. Rather than viewing the job loss only as a setback, he suggested that it could be a chance to move on, find a new opportunity or even consider a different career path—ideally doing work that he felt could have a more positive impact on the world.

His story has resonated online because it illustrates how a corporate restructuring can suddenly collide with major personal milestones.

Junior Developer Says Performance Did Not Protect Him

Another affected employee, who described himself as a junior developer with around two years of experience at Oracle, shared his experience on Reddit.

He said he had joined Oracle as a fresher and had not received a promotion during his time at the company. However, he said his manager had never given him a poor performance rating and that he had regularly been entrusted with high-priority work.

The developer said he had worked across several areas, including backend, frontend and automation, depending on where the team needed support.

He had already begun preparing for a job switch before the layoffs. But he was worried about the difficult technology job market and said he had struggled to receive interview calls despite submitting hundreds of applications.

The layoff has now added another challenge: competing with a large pool of experienced technology professionals who are also searching for jobs.
